Day 44 of Data analytics journey !

Creating Microsoft Intune Account & Publishing Reports in Power BI

๐Ÿš€ Today marks Day 44 of my Data Analytics journey. I focused on learning how to create an account in Microsoft Intune and how to publish a report in Power BI.

What I learned

1. Creating an Account in Microsoft Intune

  • Microsoft Intune is a cloud-based service used to manage devices, apps, and security in organizations.
  • I learned how to log in to the Microsoft 365 admin center, create or use an organizational account, enable Intune services, and explore the Endpoint Manager Admin Center.
  • This step is important because it connects user accounts, device management, and access permissions that are also linked with Power BI.

2. Publishing Reports in Power BI

  • After signing into Power BI Desktop with my organizational account, I connected to a dataset and created a report.
  • Using the Publish option, I uploaded the report to the Power BI service (app.powerbi.com).
  • I explored publishing to My Workspace and also learned that for collaboration, App Workspaces are a better choice.

3. Extra insights I gained

  • Workspaces make it easier to manage datasets and reports as a team.
  • Sharing reports can be done directly or by packaging them into an App for wider distribution.
  • The Publish to Web option makes reports public, but it should not be used for confidential data.
  • Row-Level Security (RLS) is an important feature to control what data each user can see โ€” very useful for real-world analytics projects.

Reflection

Todayโ€™s learning showed me how the Microsoft ecosystem connects โ€” Intune manages accounts and security, while Power BI helps analyze and share data. Both together create a secure environment for analytics in organizations.
