TL;DR: I’m starting My Book Journey series to read more deeply, improve my English, reduce my addiction, and share book insights in my own writing style.
Hi Everybody, I am Qivaijar (my online Name). This post is the introduction to My Book Journey (MBJ) Series which I will be posting from now on.
I started this series for several reasons:
- To push myself to read or learn from books, which usually contains more fundamental theories, often scattered, instead of pragmatic solutions that I usually find from developer forums, blog posts, or even ChatGPT!
- I'm not a native English speaker. However, I studied abroad to earn my master's degree. Also, working at my current company (it is Oracle, when I am writing this post) requires me to use my English skills more. Even when I can speak English clearly, without any misscommunication problem, I feel like my English skills still need to be polished. I can fully understand what is being discussed, and I can fully convey what I need to tell to another party. But for me, I kinda lack fluency, and still reuse basic words or phrases. I hoped by reading and writing more, I would be able to improve my English skills more.
- To be honest, I believe currently I'm not discipline enough. I used to be addicted to watching Anime in the past. However, my current addiction is far worse compared to that. Nowadays, I like to play an RPG game (which the name I would not mention for now), to the point that when I have a little bit of time to spare, I would play it just to do some quests or grinding for resources/materials. I hope by doing this, I will have another reason to slow down my addiction (not completely stopping it).
- I do understand why people do not really like to read a book in an era where every bit of exact information can be accessed quickly from your phone. This is why, by condensing the information from a book, adding my points of view, relating the contents to what I experienced, I want to encourage more people, especially the ones I know, to read more books. I want to share some of the things that I learned from the books (it is obviously impossible to point out everything). Because, to be honest, there are always things that surprise me inside the book, even though I believe that I already know what would be discussed inside the book.
I have no experience of writing blog posts, or anything else in the past. To improve my English skills (like what I pointed out in the 2nd point), I will try to write the posts first using my own english capability. But then after that, I will try to revise the grammatical error, spelling mistakes, and any other writing related defects using AI Agents/Chatbot (for now, I use ChatGPT). I will not just copy-paste the whole post, but instead, I will craft a prompt that lets me learn my mistakes by pointing them out, and then tell me why it is wrong, then I will rewrite it myself. The writing style should be original, because I want to show my writing style, and I do not want to exaggerate about other's people writing style.
I hope this journey will last a long time, so I can share more and more of my book journey. One of the proof of my writing style, I would not borrow any quotes from anywhere, just to make it looks cool for now. See you on my next posts.
Regards,
Qivaijar
