Battling Winter Darkness: How Better Lighting Saved My Productivity (No Ceiling Lights Allowed)

Hey Forem community,
December in the northern hemisphere hits hard—short days, gray skies, and that lingering low-energy feeling. I'm the opposite of most people: the brighter the room, the better I feel and work. A while back, I painted my office walls with high-reflectivity white paint and added a bunch of lamps. Boom—my productivity shot up, and the mild seasonal blues mostly vanished.
But the rest of my house is the real challenge: most rooms have zero ceiling fixtures. Floor lamps help a bit, but never quite enough. I refuse to tear into drywall for wiring (rental life + no mess), so I'm on an eternal quest for non-invasive ways to flood rooms with bright, even light.
Here are my current winners that actually work:

Plug-in swag pendants: Hang from a ceiling hook (command strips or screw-in), plug into the wall—no wiring needed. Great for focused bright spots.

LED strip uplighting: Hidden strips along the top of walls or shelves, washing the ceiling with light. Super uniform and bright.

What's your go-to hack for beating winter darkness in a no-ceiling-light home? Smart bulbs? Specific lamp recs? Or do you just embrace the cozy dimness?
