Solar Catamaran Safari Starts At Pench National Park

Pench National Park is soon to introduce a new activity that will attract tourists. A boat safari using solar energy will take place on the Pench River. This latest facility is expected to start in the forthcoming month of December. The guests will have an extra way to see the wildest parts of the park with the coming of the new service. The aim is to expand the tourist segment and, at the same time, involve it in more eco-friendly travel.

## The New Solar Boat Safari

The solar boat safari is being introduced to offer a peaceful and simple way to travel on the river. The route passes through green areas along the Pench River and allows visitors to see the natural beauty of Pench National Park from the water. This activity is designed to increase tourist options while reducing pollution.

## Details Of The Solar Catamaran

The main feature of this project is a modern solar catamaran that works on both solar power and a battery system. The boat is designed to run smoothly and quietly. It is made by Navalt Solar and Electric Boats Pvt Ltd, a company from Cochin known for building advanced electric boats. Each catamaran costs about ₹1 crore, showing the department’s focus on safe and strong infrastructure. Each boat can carry 24 passengers with enough space for everyone. Two boats have been ordered. One boat has already reached the park, and the second boat will arrive by the end of November.

## The Route Of The Boat Safari

The solar boat safari will run on a 23-kilometre river stretch from Kolitmara to Kuwara Bhimsen. This area is calm and known for its natural views. Kuwara Bhimsen is also an important cultural place for local tribal groups. The safari will begin only after the new jetties at Kolitmara and Kuwara Bhimsen are finished. These jetties are now in the last stage of construction and will help tourists board and get off the boats safely.

## Training And Safety Measures

Local young people have been trained to run and maintain the solar boats. Their training includes learning how to operate, charge, and take care of the catamarans. This helps them build useful skills and creates jobs for the community. The boats have gone through technical checks and safety tests by outside experts. Because crocodiles live in the Pench River, extra safety steps have been added to protect visitors during the Pench jungle safari on a boat.

## Official Permissions And Purpose

The Water Resources Department’s Regulatory Board in Mumbai has given permission for the solar boat safari. This means the project follows the required rules and environmental standards. The Forest Department already uses a petrol boat at the Totladoh reservoir for protection work, but the new solar boats will be used only for tourism. Their purpose is to make the Pench jungle safari experience better and offer a clean, low-impact travel option for tourists.

## Environmental And Tourist Benefits

Solar-powered catamarans are silent, hence they will not annoy the animals. Also, they will not emit any smoke or toxic gases, which will be advantageous in maintaining the environmental quality. Tourists will have a chance to experience a slow and pleasant ride while being able to observe nature very well. The scenario of the two boats operating together will transform the solar boat safari into one of the major attractions in Pench National Park, particularly to eco-friendly and silent experience-loving travelers.
